Queen's University and the School of Music are dedicated to rewarding excellence with financial assistance.
The School of Music offers a total of 54 diverse and substantial sources of financial support in the form of scholarships, prizes, awards, bursary-awards and bursaries, most of which are available to students entering their first year of the Bachelor of Music program.
Some University scholarships and bursaries are reserved for students entering first-year studies at Queen's. A description of these "entrance" scholarships and bursaries is available from the Student Awards website.
Entering students are automatically considered for most University and School of Music scholarships based on academic achievement, without having to make an application.
University entrance scholarships that do require an application by the student are listed on the Student Awards site; some of these have application deadlines as early as 31 January.
Only one music scholarship requires a separate application at the time of entrance. Incoming students to the School of Music whose instrument or area of interest and experience is respectively the organ or choral conducting should submit an application with letters of reference for The George N. Maybee Memorial Scholarships in Music to the Chair of the Scholarships Committee, School of Music, Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario K7L 3N6 by 1 May.
Incoming students are strongly encouraged to apply for financial aid in the categories of bursary-awards and bursaries, which are granted on the basis of achievement and/or financial need. In order to be considered for these non-repayable grants, students should apply online by 15 March.
